We completed our production last week with over 95% of budget processed, and can now relax a little before starting preparations for next year. The rest of the industry - who received less fruit than expected and are scrabbling to complete contracts or budgets - will finish off today or tomorrow, and the total Turkish production will be just over 1.7 m mt, against a pre-crop estimate of 2.2 m mt. Combined with poor recovery (yields) in the factories, the actual product tonnage will be about 25% less than forecast.
For those of you visiting SIAL, I shall be there on Tuesday, and look forward to meeting up with you then.
It will now be spring 2013 before the next crop report from Turkey, so best wishes for the next 6 months !
